about the
mcdonough rescue
I’ve always been connected to dogs but have learned over the years that I feel most drawn to the ones that get left behind. There are so many incredible dogs in cages that have been discarded for no fault of their own. They wait patiently behind the bars of a shelter kennel for a second chance, and I’ve made it my life’s purpose to give them one. I’ve been in and out of all types of shelters, but I now spend my time in Los Angeles- in the overcrowded facilities that need the most help. There are so many lives worth saving, and my only plan is to keep going.

This is Lou. My very first soul dog that found me when I lived in Oregon. Lou has been through the lowest points of my life with me but has remained consistently the best dog and my best friend. I feel incredibly lucky to have Lou in my life.
When Nash came into my life, we were both at the lowest points we’d ever been. I was going through a breakup of a 10 year relationship and Nash and his brothers were an hour away from being euthanized at an overcrowded shelter in the desert. It is an incredible story of how we came to be, more on our story here: The Dodo
Slate (aka Little), came into my life as a very unexpected surprise. I was helping a local rescue transfer 8 dogs from one foster home to another, and Slate was included. I noticed very quickly that Slate was having a hard time and was developmentally behind. I also noticed very quickly that we were never going to leave each other. She’s my little shadow now; more of her story can be found here: Slates Story
